A new page has been added to the site that displays CWOP (Citizen Weather Observer Program) statistics for Station D2893 – https://www.planoweather.com/wxcwopstats.php

CWOP is a private-public partnership with the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. Its three main goals: 1) to collect weather data contributed by citizens; 2) to make the data available for weather services; and 3) to provide feedback to the data contributors so that they have the tools to check and improve their data quality.

All Twitter scripts (current conditions, forecast, and advisories) have been updated with the addition of  OAuth/Twitter authentication instead of the user/password authentication method that Twitter is disallowing.

A new page has been added to the site that displays the groups Mesomap – https://www.planoweather.com/wxmswn.php. The Midsouth Weather Network is an affiliation of personal weather websites located in the Mid-South states in the USA (TX, OK, AR, LA). PlanoWeather.com is proud to be a member of this network. Please take a moment to visit other stations on the network by clicking on the map or by clicking on the links in the member list. Stations are displaying current conditions, temperature, dew point, humidity, wind speed/gust speed, today’s rain, barometer/trend, Chandler Burning Index and time of last update where available.

WXSIM forecasts are now LIVE!

UPDATE – Due to time requirements, we have stopped publishing these forecasts.

PlanoWeather.com forecasts created with WXSIM (Interactive Local Atmospheric Modeling System) are now LIVE! Forecasts are generated 4 times a day at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 9pm and are uploaded at 15 minutes past the hour following their creation. They can be viewed alongside NWS forecasts on the home page or in detail here: https://www.planoweather.com/wxsimforecast.php A comparison page will soon be added for determining accuracy between WXSIM forecasts, NWS forecasts, and actual observed temperatures.

UPDATE 11/12/10: This page has been replaced with https://www.planoweather.com/wxnoaarecords.php which adds barometric pressure and snowfall records.
